The Southern Scholarship Foundation is a non-profit organization providing student housing accommodations to students coming from low income households. Prior to redeveloping their parking area, KLM had negotiated and purchased a 5’ strip of property from SSF in order to make way for a new development on an adjacent parcel. Through this deal, a trusting and professional relationship was formed. Over the next few years, the SSF developed a need for additional parking on their current site and called KLM to see if a plan could be created. KLM was able to work closely with a local civil engineering firm to eliminate a drainage pond on their site and replace it with underground exfiltration in order to add additional parking. The remaining property was also reconfigured eventually adding 24 parking spaces. The project was a huge success and a rewarding one as well.

The Southern Scholarship Foundation has a mission that states: “Through rent-free housing and cooperative living, the Southern Scholarship Foundation supports students, who lack financial resources, demonstrate excellent academic merit, and exemplify good character, so they may attend institutions of higher education”.
